Jeron C. Gibson (born November 15, 1982) known by his stage name Mr. Lucci is an American rapper, songwriter, actor and entrepreneur from Dallas, Texas.
Born in Lone Star, Texas, Lucci was the son of a preacher and the youngest of three children. After the passing of his father at the tender age of four, Lucci’ mother packed up and moved the family to Dallas, Texas.
Music has always been a passion for Lucci, he would sit by his mothers old stereo and write word for word, old Rap and R&B songs. As Lucci grew older he nurtured his writing skills and became comfortable with his flow. Lucci’ turning point was hearing Lil Wayne on BG’s album, and realizing anything was possible, seeing Lil Wayne then 14 years of age was only a year older than himself.
Lucci’s big break happened his 9th grade year at the local barber shop where Craig the owner of C&G listened to Mr. Lucci freestyle, from that day forward Lucci’ life would transform from an aspiring rapper to a nationally acclaimed rap artist known as Mr. Lucci aka Lu Diamond.
In early 1999 Mr. Lucci debuted on Mr. Pookie’s single “Crook For Life” which quickly grew from home and car stereos, to clubs and mainstream radio. He also featured on “Don’t Test Us”, which peeked at number #90 on the Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop charts for a five-week run. In 2001, Mr. Lucci released his first solo album titled “Diabolical”, with featuring guest appearances by Mr. Montis, Mr. Pookie and Big Chief. The Independent album sold over 60,000 units according to Nielsen’s Sound Scan Reports.
